STI – Sweet or sigh?

Yesterday, official photos of the new Subaru Impreza WRX STI were released.  I think it’s SWEET!  Others may sigh.  What say you?

By God’s grace, I helped the author of that story confirm and/or find information about the vehicle thanks to the fine members of (North American Subaru Impreza Owners Club).

Here’s what I’m thinking – USC colors – Lightning Red with gold BBS wheels!

the red/gold combo is a winner

it’s pretty sweet, nice widebody stance too… the fender lines remind me a little of the upcoming vibe/matrix though; the silver above the grille would look better in smoked chrome too

I don’t like the contrast of the silver and the black trim pieces on the front of the vehicle.  I think the STi looks bland in the front and the side.  The rear looks horrendous.  Also, I’m still not a fan of the overly long front end.
    I’d rather get an Evo.

Compared to the new evo, i think subaru took a shot in a better direction. Initially, the wrx looked like an awd ford focus, and the lancer looked like a late participant in the high rear end design. But your pictures seem to show that subaru has a bigger vision, and perhaps when I see the evo, i will think mitsubishi does too. Perhaps the two big companies decided the evo (big turbo awd sedan) will take on the bmw 335i sedan, and the sti will take on the new bmw 135i?

i like the old one more.  but this on will probably grow on me the more i look at it.

It would look great with a little splash of stanford red.

Stanford’s red is also cardinal red. That is why they are called the Cardinal. USC’s colors are cardinal red and gold.
