Never forget – September 11, 2001

In rememberance, I changed the music on this page to The Star-Spangled Banner (link has the full lyrics) played by the University of Southern California Trojan Marching Band – The Spirit of Troy.

O say, can you see, by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hail’d at the twilight’s last gleaming?

Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro’ the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watch’d, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro’ the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

Ya’ll have plenty of time out there to join in.  Again, don’t let $$$ be an issue.  I just want people to get another small glimpse of heaven in the real world (thank you, Steven Curtis Chapman, for that figure of speech).  If you really think about it, worshiping God with other believers should always be able to present us with a taste of heaven.  At times, we’re just too messed up ourselves as human beings to experience it.

The BEST Mexican food in San Diego (that I’ve had) can be found at El Cotixan!

I miss their huge carne asada burritos for $4.00 (if I remember correctly)!

I wanted to give some props to Sony’s Customer Support some props for helping me out.  I bought a Sony Cybershot DSC-F717 (review here) from Jason Dyer a few months ago.  At summer retreat (which I still need to make further mention of in a more detailed entry), I first noticed a problem with the image sensor device (CCD) similar to the one below.

There was a class-action lawsuit (more details here) that resulted in a settlement between the parties where Sony Electronics Inc. (SEL) would repair the affected camcorders and digital still cameras at no charge to the customer or reimburse the customer if they had their product previously repaired (with proper documentation) because of this problem.  What I thought was going to be a costly repair ended up costing me nothing except a little time.  The time it took to ship (Sony provided a prepaid UPS Ground label) the camera to their repair center in Texas and have it return to me was about two weeks, which was definitely a lot quicker than I thought it would take.  It was also convenient that I didn’t have to obtain Jason’s original receipt and all that fun stuff.

Here are the affected models just in case you may have any of them that exhibit the same problem in the future:

Here are some photos of a birthday surprise we gave Steve!

OWNED!

Speaking of birthdays, Michelle Yuen turns 20 tomorrow (Sunday) and Christopher Woo turns 21 on Monday.  I expect all of you out there to show the same love to these two!!! Hehehe!

A little late, but worth the wait: Jason Lee turned 21 back on September 3rd.  My bad for not remembering.  Chris mentioned it to me last night.  Baseball fans, Mark Prior turned 26 this past Thursday.

Here’s a couple of photos of my fellow DCLA 2006 volunteers.

Everyone meet Steve (Ferry).  He’s currently a student at Moody Bible Institute.  He is easily the biggest 24 fan I know!  He’s originally from Illinois and is a fellow Cubs fan.

This brother is Shawn Selame.  I first met him when I was volunteering at DCLA 2000.  He’s originally from NorCal.  He graduated from Vanguard University in 2004 or 2005 (I think it’s the latter but I’m not sure).  He was a fellow Youth For Christ summer intern in 2001 (although he interned at the national office in Denver, Colorado).  The last time I saw him was when I volunteered at DCLA 2003 which was in Sacramento.  I had a tremendous time catching up with him!
