April 30 is Compassion Sunday — a day when sponsors, pastors, and people who care about impoverished children will speak up in congregations all across the United States. We are asking God for 21,000 child sponsors through this event this year. Last year, nearly 17,000 children found sponsors on Compassion Sunday! In light of this event, we are setting aside April 28 as a global day for prayer and fasting — a day we can come together as the worldwide Body of Christ before the Lord. We are asking that His glory will be seen through this special Sunday as sponsors and advocates communicate the needs of the world’s poor children to congregations across the country. Will you join us in this? Will you agree to reserve April 28th as a day of prayer and fasting for Compassion Sunday? We hope that all Compassion staff, sponsors, project workers and volunteers, child advocates, partners, and Compassion-sponsored children and children awaiting sponsors through this event, along with their parents, will join in this day of prayer and fasting. Invite your church to unite in this day of prayer for children who need sponsors! |
The latest thing I’ve been in awe of is how God used Cyrus of Persia to allow some of His people to return to Israel after they were in exile. Here we have a real king that existed in history (evident through archaeological digs and findings) that did things consistent with the things written in 2 Chronicles, Ezra, and Daniel. It’s part of God’s/His story that makes so much sense I would think it would be harder not to believe in Him and what He’s done throughout the endless ages. So why not crown Him with praises? Why isn’t He exalted in every nation even though He’s sovereign over all Creation? He is the Lord Most High and He should be magnified!

Make friends with your fast!
Actually, the 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX STI clocked a 4.5 second 0-60 mph time in the December 2005 issue of Motor Trend.
Anyway, I just wanted to encourage those of you out there who read the first part of my entry to make friends with your fast. Not a fast that has to do with driving. But a fast to lift up the lives of children around the world who still have yet to experience God’s compassion, love, grace, mercy, kindness, unfailing love, and so much more. This Friday, let me encourage you all to pray and fast for these people. Beyond Friday, let me encourage you all to keep the children of this world in your prayers and on your hearts that we may yearn and strive to see our great God reach every single one as Geoff says/sings.
