How great is our God!

My highlights from yesterday…singing the song below at church and at Fishfest 2006 at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine, CA.
Details about last week in San Diego will be posted at a later time! God is GR8!!!
How Great Is Our God
Words and music by Chris Tomlin, Ed Cash, and Jesse Reeves (From the album Arriving, ©2004 Sparrow Records)
The splendor of a King
Clothed in majesty
Let all the earth rejoice
All the earth rejoice

He wraps himself in light
And darkness tries to hide
And trembles at His voice
Trembles at His voice

How great is our God
Sing with me
How great is our God
And all will see
How great, how great is our God

Age to age He stands
And time is in His hands
Beginning and the end
Beginning and the end

The Godhead three-in-one
Father, Spirit, (and) Son
The Lion and the Lamb
The Lion and the Lamb

How great is our God
Sing with me
How great is our God
And all will see
How great, how great is our God

((Cause) You’re the) Name above all names
(You are) Worthy of all praise
(And) My heart will sing
How great is our God

How great is our God
Sing with me
How great is our God
And all will see
How great, how great is our God

Chris Tomlin’s thoughts on one of his own songs:

How Great is Our God
Another simple song that started from the thought of God’s greatness and presence. I love how Psalm 104 writes that “he wraps himself in light…” My hope is that it is simple enough to sing, yet profound enough to cause the heart and soul to stand in wonder. I’ve already been overwhelmed from the response I’ve seen from this song.

SING WITH ME!!!

It’s good to be in San/Sun Diego!  You just heard “the sound of freedom” courtesy of a McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet.

I’m in San Diego for the week taking a Crystal Reports course through Procede Software.  Procede Software is the publisher of the dealership management software (DMS) my dealership switched to back in November 2005.  Their product, Excede, has been the main reason why work has not been cool lately.

Anyway, it’s nice to be out of the office for a week.  I’m staying at my friend Warren’s (Xanga: OSUBaller) place which is only 5-6 miles from Procede Software’s office (which is actually a Qualcomm building).

Throughout the day, I heard the sound of F/A-18 Hornets overhead presumably on their way to and from Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar.  It’s a beautiful sound…the sound of freedom!  I could get used to it!  My dad used to take my family regularly to the air shows at MCAS Miramar (formerly NAS (Naval Air Station) Miramar when they used to have my favorite planes, the Northrop Grumman F-14 Tomcat which squadrons were moved to NAS Oceana in Virginia a few years ago) and MCAS El Toro mainly to see the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels.  Perhaps his interest in them was rooted in his service in the United States Navy many years ago aboard a submarine.

Anyone interested in going to Fishfest 2006?   For more info, check out www.thefish959.com.

EDIT: I forgot to mention some minor details.  Fishfest is this Sunday at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine.  I’m looking at getting tickets in the $40 or $35 sections.  I’m guessing I will leave church around 2 to 2:30 PM.  Please e-mail me if you’re serious about wanting to go!  Thanks!

I’m pretty set on going even if it that means going by myself!  I almost won a Taylor guitar at Fishfest 2003 in the raffle drawing.  My ticket was picked one before the guitar winner.  I got a $20 Boost mobile phone (Where you at?) and a gift card to some pizza restaurant in the OC I’ve never used but still carry in my wallet (I wonder if it’s still valid).

Note: I will also take a moment to say that you don’t need to go to a concert to have an awesome time worshiping God.  That’s not what worship is really about.  I will simply say that being there with thousands of other believers joining in one voice is a beautiful sound moving through the crowd-voices lifted up on high to our great God!

If you’re interested in going, please let me know ASAP!

Some cars I’ve thought are really cool lately

2006 BMW M Roadster

2006 Volkswagen GTI

2006 Mazda 3s Wagon

Again, these are just cars and when all is said and done, they’re just metal, rubber, and some other materials.  What it’s really about is making much of our God and giving Him all glory, honor, and praise!

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (ESV)
So we do not lose heart. Though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed day by day. For this slight momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

Pitching on a Friday night during the 2001 season

Last time I saw and talked to him in August 2003 at Dodger Stadium

I’ll be praying for him.  It’s a good thing he got his B.S. in Business Administration from USC’s Marshall School of Business in May 2004 to “fall back on” if baseball doesn’t work out for him.

As for me, I’ve been thinking about a lot of things because work has been far from enjoyable lately.  I’d appreciate all of your prayers!

For my dear seniors…just in case you wanted another crack at going to Biola, The Master’s College, or USC.  You tried the rest, now experience the best!  j/k!  I doubt any of you were affected.  If I’m wrong however, you may want to check it out below.  I actually heard this piece of information listening to The Fish 95.9 FM from none other than John Tesh who has his own show on weekdays from 7 PM to Midnight.

October 2005 SAT: Important Information

The College Board recently discovered that a technical processing matter affected a very small percentage of October 2005 SAT test takers. As a result, approximately 4,000 students (0.8% of the SAT Reasoning Test takers who tested during that administration) did not receive credit for some correct answers; therefore, their scores are higher than originally reported.

Students who were affected have been notified by email.

Please note:

  • If you were affected, you have received an email notification and you will receive a revised official score report in the mail.
  • Students who have been notified can access their revised scores at www.collegeboard.com/satscores.
  • We are only contacting students with revised scores.
  • High schools and colleges that were affected have been notified.
  • The score difference for the vast majority of students was less than 100 points across all three sections of the test.
  • We are refunding those students’ test registration fees as well as any other fees associated with sending scores from the October test administration.

Our research has determined that this scoring anomaly was a one time problem, and only involved the October 2005 SAT Reasoning Test.

We very much regret any worry or inconvenience that this problem may have caused students.

We have reached out to and are working with admissions officers across the country in an effort to ensure that this event has only a positive effect on the affected students.

Quick rant – I’m not cool with all the hoopla the Academy Awards/Oscars get.

Imagine this world making much of our God in the same way!!!

You are the Lord
The Famous One, Famous One
Great is Your name in all the earth
The heavens declare
That You’re glorious, glorious
Great is Your fame beyond the earth
