2006 Rose Bowl recovery

I had a great time at small group tonight with Jon Ng (Xanga: jonathankng) and Alex Kwan (Xanga: TenThousandPoetWarriors).

The healing process doesn’t get any easier for USC Trojan fans…

Legendary Former USC Baseball Coach Rod Dedeaux Dies

Thanks for:

  • 11 national titles (out of USC’s 12…double the 2nd most in the NCAA held by LSU with 6)
  • Coaching nearly 60 major leaguers (includes Tom Seaver, Mark McGwire, Randy Johnson, Fred Lynn, Dave Kingman, Roy Smalley, Don Buford, Ron Fairly, Rich Dauer, Steve Busby, Jim Barr and Steve Kemp)

Here’s the photo I had with my friends Jon Mak (his idea) and Steve Quon (“his” camera) and Fox Sports Net’s Lindsay Soto (She’s happily married, gentlemen!):

Keep fighting on for ol’ SC!

More importantly, keep fighting on for ol’ JC!!!

I just got home from a piece of history!

I was hoping to witness USC win its third straight national championship in a row.  Instead, I witnessed one of the greatest college football national championship games ever…it just didn’t turn out the way I had hoped.   My bowl record is now 0-2 (2001 Las Vegas Bowl – USC lost to Utah, 10-6 and the 2006 Rose Bowl – USC lost to Texas, 41-38).  Hopefully one of these days, I’ll witness another USC football national championship in person.  If not, it’s good to know there’s more to this life…than living and dying…more than just trying to make it through the day!

Here are my thoughts on this year’s Rose Bowl.  You are more than welcome to agree or disagree.

  1. USC didn’t deserve to win this game (Reggie’s lateral that turned out to be a fumble, getting stopped on 4th down twice (the second time turned the ball over for Texas’ winning drive), being too soft on pass coverage, and poor tackling)
  2. Texas won the game (fine final drive)
  3. Most Texas Longhorn fans have class

Congratulations to the Texas Longhorns and their fans.

The only solace I had after the game was getting a picture with the lovely Lindsay Soto, a USC alumna and current Fox Sports Net West reporter, and Steve Quon and Jon Mak.  Driving Jon Mak’s 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX STI last night and riding in it again today both before and after the game helped a little as well!  Even after that experience with his STI, I still  the car I drive!

UPDATE: Hanley, I think it was good USC went for it on 4th down and 2 yards to go.  It was a good call with a bad play chosen and execution

It’s on like Donkey Kong!!!

Let’s mess with Texas!!!

Make sure you all watch the USC Trojans win an unprecedented third straight national title tonight on ABC at 5 PM PST, the Rose Bowl presented by CITI.

FIGHT ON!!!  BEAT THE LONGHORNS!!!

Hi, everybody!  (This is where all you Simpsons’ fans say, “Hi, Dr. Nick!”)  I just got back not too long ago from First Chinese Baptist Church, Walnut’s (www.fcbcwalnut.org – gotta get the shameless plug in) 2005-2006 Youth Winter Retreat – “Join the Battle” (Ephesians 6:10-18, I also personally like to bundle verses 19 and 20 in with it as well) where I had the pleasure and privilege of seeing God work His wonders through the eyes of a high school retreat counselor.

Happy New Year’s!

To be honest, New Year’s isn’t that big of a deal to me.  Today also marks my 1-year anniversary on Xanga.

Here’s the real big deal:

THE VICTORY IS THE LORD’S!!!

Victory signs up, everybody!!!
