Getting this song up on here has been long overdue!  Enjoy!  However, I want you to more than enjoy it.  I want you to meditate on it and check your pulse!

In the first line of the chorus, just imagine being like Eric Liddell from “Chariots of Fire” and real-life acclaim who would simply run for God.  Think of those who have given their lives for the sake of the call like Jim Elliot, Nate Saint, Pete Fleming, Ed McCully, and Roger Youdarian.  Think of their wives Elisabeth Elliot, Marjorie Saint (USC Trojan alumnus!), Olive Fleming, Marilou McCully, and Barbara Youdarian who pressed and fought on(!) despite the loss of their dear husbands.  Think of God’s conversion of the Auca Indians (Auca – “The Savages”) in Ecuador who killed these men and have now become His people, His God Followers.  They are now known as the Waodani, “The People”, and now are doing God’s work in telling other tribes about Him.

Children of the Burning Heart
By Steven Curtis Chapman from the album Signs of Life (©1996 Sparrow Records)

We were the dreamers, the boys on the wild frontier
The new believers with nothing in the world to fear
We had discovered the treasure of
the love and the grace of God
And it burned like a fire in
our hearts and we would…

CHORUS:
Throw back our heads and run with the passion
Through the fields of forgiveness and grace
We carried the eternal flame
With an undying hope and a blazing conviction
Of a truth that would never fade
We were glowing in the dark
Children of the burning herat

And now for the dreamers, and
those who have dared to believe
The flames call us deeper into the great mystery
For as we draw near to the Father
we are lost in this one desire
To be wholy consumed by His fire, so let us..

CHORUS

So come on let’s
Keep on glowing in the dark
Children of the burning heart
