In response to God’s message spoken through Jerry (Xanga: scaryhairyjerry) on Friday night and some other things I’ve been thinking about…

Are you tired of…

Comfortable Convenient Christianity?

I know I’m tired of it and totally guilty of it–settling for less than what would give God the most glory.

I think we’re so content just to live day-by-day knowing that Christ has redeemed us without that truth compelling us to have that very truth extend beyond our very own selves.

It’s so easy to get caught up in…

  • Careers
  • Relationships
  • Security/Stability
  • Homeowning
  • Cars (probably my biggest struggle)
  • Gadgets/gizmos/widgets/technology/etc.
  • Entertainment – TV/Movies/Sports (this one is up there too)

For those of you who weren’t there, Jerry spoke about the transfiguration as it is depicted in Mark 9:1-13.

Wow!  The thunder is booming louder than I can last remember ever hearing it!   The 20 random facts things about myself will hafta wait.  I ain’t got time to do one of those!

Lord, I confess that I’m a sinful, wretched man guilty of chasing after the wind in the pursuit things that may not give You the glory, honor, and praise You alone are so worthy of.  I know I’m not alone by any means.  Please be with my brothers and sisters who wrestle with the same and/or similar struggles.  Grant us a true “kingdom perspective” of what it means to truly make much of You in our lives knowing that there is more to this life than living and dying–more than just trying to make it through each and every day.  Your kingdom is here and it is now.  Use us Your children to go forth in sharing and showing the life and love You’ve shown us.  In Your most holy and precious name I pray, Amen.

Take My Life
How many times have I turned away
The number is the same as the sand on the shore
But every time You’ve taken me back
And now I pray You do it once more.

Please take from me my life
When I don’t have the strength
to give it away to You Jesus

How many times have I turned away
The number is the same as the stars in the sky
But every time You’ve taken me back
And now I pray You do it tonight.

Repeat chorus

Soo true. Its soo esay to get caught up with other things in life. And that as long as you leave 110% of Sunday for God it makes up for it. But its doesn’t and you gotta try to REALLY give God 100% everyday. Easier said than done, I know…
